My general problem with smoothies and pressed juices is that they are cold. I’m a fan of warm drinks and warm liquid food stuff in general, be it teas, soups, stews and the like. This concoction marries together smoothies and warm drinks. It all sounds kinda weird, but I promise you that the end result is really tasty.

INGREDIENTS:

½ small apple (0.13 EUR)

1 tsp coconut oil (0.07 EUR)

½ tsp turmeric powder (0.03 EUR)

METHOD:

For a super smooth texture peel your apple before dicing it. I didn’t really mind the feel, so I couldn’t be bothered with peeling the apple. Add the diced apple and coconut oil to a small saucepan on medium heat. Cook for a few minutes until fragrant and slightly softened. Add in turmeric, cinnamon, salt, honey and milk. Bring to a gentle simmer, then transfer to a blender. Add in fresh baby spinach and pulse for two to three minutes, until completely smooth and frothy. Serve immediately.

Za super glatku teksturu ogulite jabuku prije nego ju narežete na kockice. Meni je bilo svejedno pa sam preskočila guljenje. Nasjeckanu jabuku ubacite u mali lončić sa kokosovim uljem, pa kuhajte koju minutu da zamiriši i mrvicu omekša. Dodajte kurkumu, cimet, sol, med i mlijeko. Pustite da lagano zavrije, pa prebacite u blender. Dodajte unutra i svježi špinat, pa sve skupa pulsirajte dvije do tri minute da bude skroz glatko i pjenasto. Poslužite odmah.

The whole Coronavirus hype didn’t throw us into a manic frenzy which half of the world seems to be going through, but I’ve decided that some extra greens couldn’t hurt. I’m already gobbling down salads and other forms of greenery, so a smoothie now and then seemed like a great option for an extra boost to my immune system. This one packs a ton of spinach, but doesn’t taste like a giant bowl of grass and is actually super delicious, so go ahead and try it out if you’re looking for some new smoothie recipes.

INGREDIENTS:

Have you already jumped on the coconut whipped cream bandwagon? No? Please do! This is such a tasty and fantastic alternative to dairy whipped cream. Coconut cream gives off a luxurious and rich whipped cream that is definitely worth trying out.

INGREDIENTS:

(Yields 2 servings / 2 EUR per serving / 4 EUR for all)

1 can of coconut cream (2.40 EUR)

1 cup frozen blueberries (1.33 EUR)

1 small banana (0.27 EUR)

METHOD:

Place the can of coconut cream upside-down in the fridge the night before. The next day gently flip the can and open. If everything worked out well, the fat and the water should have separated. Carefully pour off the water and reserve. You’ll be using it in a second. Place all the thick white fat into the food processor and blitz for about 10 seconds until cream forms. Transfer to a bowl.

Put frozen blueberries, banana and reserved coconut water in the same processor and shortly pulse until uniform. Divide blueberry mix between glasses and dollop coconut whipped cream in. Serve immediately.

For extra sweetness feel free to add in some honey, agave nectar or maple syrup. I found the fruits sweet enough on their own, though.

Pažljivo odlijte i sačuvajte vodu. Nju ćete ubrzo iskoristiti. Stavite gustu bijelu masnoću u multipraktik i blicajte oko 10 sekundi, dok se ne formira čvrsti šlag. Preselite šlag u zdjelicu.

Stavite smrznute borovnice, bananu i preostalu kokosovu vodu u isti multipraktik i kratko pulsirajte dok ne bude jednolično. Podijelite miks borovnica među čašama i unutra žlicom odgrabite kokosov šlag. Odmah poslužite.

Slobodno po želji zasladite medom, nektarom od agave ili javorovim sirupom. Meni je, međutim, samo voće bilo već dovoljno slatko.

Hazelnut Milk Blueberry Smoothie / Smoothie od lješnjakovog mlijeka i borovnica

Making your own nut milk may seem like a pain in the butt. But (and I know you know that I’m going to say this) it’s absolutely worth it. There are a bunch of steps involved, sure, but those mostly require time and not that much of actual active work. And to make this smoothie extra nice, we’re going to lightly toast our hazelnuts.

INGREDIENTS:

(Yields 2 servings / 1.15 EUR per serving / 2.31 EUR for all)

For hazelnut milk:

½ cup hazelnuts (0.67 EUR)

1 cup water (–)

½ tsp pure vanilla extract (0.01 EUR)

1 tsp honey (0.03 EUR)

And for the smoothie:

1 banana (0.27 EUR)

1 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen (1.33 EUR)

METHOD:

To lightly toast hazelnuts, preheat oven to 140°C. Spread hazelnuts on a baking tray and place in the oven for 40 minutes. Allow hazelnuts to cool enough to handle and then peel thin brown skins. They should come off quite easily. The stubborn ones that don’t peel just leave as they are, it absolutely doesn’t matter. If you’re storing the hazelnuts for later use, they should cool off completely on a tray and then best be kept in a freezer. I just got a huge batch of hazelnuts for all the future baking and toasted, peeled and stored all of them like that, to ensure nothing spoils. If proceeding to make milk, cover hazelnuts with water and place in the fridge overnight.

The next day, add vanilla and honey to hazelnuts and their soaking water and pulse in a food processor until creamy. At this point, you can strain milk through fine mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth and keep pulp to use later in cakes, cookies or pancakes, or just leave the milk unstrained for a more filling version, which is what I’ve done. Add banana and blueberries to the milk and pulse until smooth. Serve immediately.

PRIPREMA:

Da bi lagano tostirali lješnjake, zagrijte pećnicu na 140°C, raširite ih po plehu za pečenje i stavite u pećnicu na 40 minuta. Pustite da se malo ohlade, pa im skinite tanke smeđe opne koje bi sada trebale lako skliznuti. One tvrdoglave koji se ne daju oguliti samo pustite takve kakvi jesu, ništa ne smeta. Ako ćete lješnjake spremati za kasnije, pustite ih da se skroz ohlade na plehu i onda čuvajte u zamrzivaču. Ja sam upravo kupila ogromnu količinu lješnjaka za buduće kolače i sve sam ih tako tostirala i ogulila pa ih čuvam u zamrzivaču, da mi se slučajno nešto ne pokvari. Ako nastavljate sa rađenjem mlijeka, pokrijte lješnjake vodom i stavite u frižider preko noći.

Idućeg dana dodajte vaniliju i med lješnjacima i vodi u kojoj su se namakali, pa sameljite u multipraktiku dok ne bude kremasto. Ako želite, sada možete mlijeko procijediti kroz cjediljku obloženu gazom i pulpu spremiti kasnije za kolače, kekse ili palačinke. Ili ostavite mlijeko neprocijeđeno, za zasitniju verziju, što sam i ja učinila. Dodajte bananu i borovnice u mlijeko pa pulsirajte u multipraktiku dok ne bude skroz glatko. Poslužite odma.

We’ve only just got a small vegetable chopper last weekend, after living without one for a couple of years. The last one fell victim of my attempt to try quickly chopping some bacon, as I was too lazy to do it by hand. Well, it ended up with me actually chopping the said bacon by hand and throwing the chopper in a dumpster.

So, as we have a new chopper now, I’m on a kick of grinding up everything. Other than bacon. See? I got wiser.

This recipe is so simple that it isn’t even a recipe. But, it’s tasty and healthy. A real treat for you. I also prefer my smoothie on a thicker side, but feel free to add more milk if desired.

INGREDIENTS:

(Yields 2 cups / 0.68 EUR per cup / 1.36 EUR for whole)

1 small banana, roughly cut up (0.27 EUR)

1 cup frozen raspberries (0.67 EUR)

2 tbsp coconut shreds (0.13 EUR)

2/3 cup milk – use nut or soy milk for vegan version (0.16 EUR)

METHOD:

Add all ingredients to a bowl of your food processor and pulse until smooth. If necessary, add more milk to desired consistency. Serve immediately.

Prošli smo vikend kupili malu sjeckalicu za povrće, nakon što smo pred par godina ostali bez stare. Zadnja je postala žrtvom moje nakane da nabrzinu probam sitno nasjeckati špek za sarmu, jer sam bila prelijena da to idem raditi ručno. Završilo je tako da sam taj isti špek na kraju nasjeckala ručno. Sjeskalica je završila u kontejneru.
