Potato and Sausage Casserole / Složenac od krumpira i kobasica

This dish is super easy to make and requires very little of your attention. Once you dump it in the oven, you can pretty much go about your business and let it take care of itself. Also, there is no need to precook the potatoes here, which means even less work for you.

INGREDIENTS:

(Yields 6 servings / 0.88 EUR per serving / 5.28 EUR for all)

6 large regular potatoes (0.60 EUR)

2 large sweet potatoes (1.00 EUR)

½ tsp salt (0.01 EUR)

½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper (0.03 EUR)

½ tsp dried red pepper flakes (0.03 EUR)

½ tsp garlic powder (0.03 EUR)

2 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika (0.07 EUR)

1 tsp dried thyme (0.07 EUR)

1 tsp dried oregano (0.07 EUR)

2 tbsp sunflower seed oil (0.03 EUR)

1 large green bell pepper (0.40 EUR)

3 spicy smoked sausages (2.00 EUR)

1 cup sour cream, divided (0.53 EUR)

1 cup shredded cheese, divided (0.40 EUR)

Additional:

Sunflower seed oil for greasing the pan (0.01 EUR)

METHOD:

Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a deeper baking dish with oil and set aside. Peel and thinly slice regular and sweet potatoes, then toss together with salt, black pepper, red pepper, garlic powder, paprika, thyme, oregano and oil. While your potatoes are soaking up the spices, thinly slice bell pepper and cut the sausages into coins.

To your oiled baking dish add half of the of the mixed sliced potatoes in an even layer, top with bell pepper slices, sausage coins, half of the amount of sour cream and half of shredded cheese. Top it all with remaining potatoes, tightly wrap the pan in aluminum foil and bake for one hour. After one hour, uncover the potatoes and bake for additional half an hour to crisp up. About ten minutes before the baking time is up, top the casserole with dollops of remaining sour cream and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Serve warm.

½ žličice soli (0,01 kn)

½ žličice svježe mljevenog crnog papra (0,25 kn)

½ žličice sušenog čilija u pahuljicama (0,25 kn)

½ žličice češnjaka u prahu (0,25 kn)

2 žličice slatke crvene paprike (0,50 kn)

1 žličica sušenog timijana – majčine dušice (0,50 kn)

1 žličica sušenog origana (0,50 kn)

2 žlice suncokretovog ulja (0,50 kn)

1 velika zelena paprika (3,00 kn)

3 pikantne dimljene kobasice (15,00 kn)

1 šalica kiselog vrhnja, podijeljena (4,00 kn)

1 šalica ribanog sira, podijeljena (3,00 kn)

Dodatno:

Suncokretovo ulje za namastiti protvan (0,10 kn)

PRIPREMA:

Zagrijte pećnicu na 200°C. Dublji protvan dobro namastite i stavite na stranu. Ogulite i narežite na tanke šnite krumpire i batate, pa pomiješajte sa solju, paprom, čilijem, češnjakom, slatkom paprikom, timijanom, origanom i uljem. Dok krumpiri upijaju sve arome, papriku narežite na tanke trakice, a kobasice na novčiće.

Po dnu nauljene posude poslažite polovicu krumpira i batata u ravnomjernom sloju, pa ih prekrijte sa trakicama paprike, kobasicama, polovicom kiselog vrhnja i polovicom sira. Po svemu poslažite ostatak krumpira i batata, protvan dobro umotajte u aluminijsku foliju te pecite jedan sat. Nakon sat vremena, maknite foliju te pecite još tridesetak minuta da se sve dobro zahrska. Desetak minuta prije kraja pečenja po svemu dodajte ostatak kiselog vrhnja i posipajte preostalim sirom. Poslužite toplo.
