Homemade Chili Oil (vegan) / Čili ulje (vegansko)

We’re big fans of spicy food in our household and I am always looking for new spicy toppings to add to our dishes. This chili oil is super easy to make, yet awesome to have around as you can add it to pretty much anything to heat things up. It works great both as a cooking oil and as an extra topping, so really, the world is your oyster.

INGREDIENTS:

(Yields 1 cup / 0.94 EUR)

¾ cup sunflower seed oil (0.30 EUR)

½ small onion, very finely diced (0.03 EUR)

2 garlic cloves, minced (0.07 EUR)

Small piece of ginger, minced (0.03 EUR)

3 tbsp dried red pepper flakes (0.40 EUR)

1 tsp freshly ground black pepper (0.07 EUR)

½ tsp salt (0.01 EUR)

1 tbsp sesame seeds (0.03 EUR)

METHOD:

Add the oil to a small saucepan and warm up until hot and shimmery. You can test the heat by dropping in a small piece of diced onion – if it sizzles up immediately, you are good to go. While your oil is preheating, add all of the remaining ingredients to a glass container you plan on using as a storage and give it all a really good stir. Once the oil is hot, carefully pour it into your container over the remaining ingredients. Give everything one more stir, cover and allow to cool down completely before using. Store the chili oil in your fridge in an airtight container where it should last for a couple of weeks.

Ovo čili ulje je jako jednostavno za pripremiti, te je super za imati pri ruci za sve živo gdje hoćete malo otfrljiti ljutinu. S njime možete kuhati, ali ga možete dodati i kao završni akcent nekom gotovom jelu, tako da vam je samo vaša mašta granica.

SASTOJCI:

(Za 1 šalicu / 7,01 kn)

¾ šalice suncokretovog ulja (2,25 kn)

½ manjeg luka, jako fino nasjeckanog (0,25 kn)

2 češnja češnjaka, sitno sjeckana (0,50 kn)

Mali komadić đumbira, sitno sjeckan (0,25 kn)

3 žlice sušenog čilija u listićima (3,00 kn)

1 žličica svježe mljevenog crnog papra (0,50 kn)

½ žličice soli (0,01 kn)

1 žlica sjemenski sezama (0,25 kn)

PRIPREMA:

Ulje dodaje u mali lončić te ga dobro zagrijte, sve dok se ne počne presijavati. Toplinu možete testirati tako da u ulje ubacite komadićak sjeckanog luka – ako se odmah zacvrlji, onda je to to. Dok se ulje grije sve ostale sastojke dodajte u staklenku koju ćete koristiti za čuvanje i dobro ih promiješajte. Kada se ulje ugrijalo jako ga pažljivo pretočite u staklenku preko ostalih sastojaka. Sve još jednom dobro promiješajte, poklopite i pustite da skroz ohladi prije daljnje upotrebe. Čili ulje čuvajte u zatvorenoj posudi u hladnjaku gdje će držati nekoliko tjedana.
